This is a vintage circa WW2 Yellow Birch Robert Laidlaw Lumber Co. (RLLCo) Wooden Airplane Propeller. It is a large, 2-blade, fixed pitch, wooden construction with metal covered tips painted yellow, propeller measuring 90 inches long and has metal leading edges to each blade. The marking indicates a vintage World War II-era aircraft propeller manufactured in 1943 by the Robert Laidlaw Lumber Co. (RLLCo) in Toronto, Canada. It was built for United States and Canadian military training and liaison aircraft. Inside of hub marked "OD58" (Outside Diameter 58 inches). Three Royal Canadian Air Force inspection stamps near the hub "RCA 71" in circle with Broad Arrow, designates an official RCAF design standard or sub-contracted manufacturer, 71 is the specific drawing or design number. Underside of hub stamped "L U.S.A. DRG. No. X43K9493" designates US Army Air Forces compliance. "SER. L.L.A. 321" (Laidlaw Lumber Aircraft prefix, 321st propeller built under that specific design specification), and under that is stamped "June 43". The top of the hub is stamped "ENG. R-975" (9-cylinder Wright R-975 Whirlwind radial engine), "D8-O.FT.", "HP 450", "RPM 2250" and MOD./D.76". This propeller was used on the following aircraft: Beechcraft Staggerwing, (civil utility aircraft frequently impressed into military service).North American BT-9 & Vultee BT-15 Valiant (U.S. Army Air Corps training aircraft). Curtiss-Wright SNC Falcon, (Navy training aircraft).Curtiss F9C Sparrowhawk, (A parasite fighter operated from U.S. Navy airships). Propeller is in excellent, unrestored condition. All marking are clear/readable.
