CERTIFICATE. 1) POSTER. This poster measures approx. 30" x 20" and is in a frame that measures 43" x 33". The poster depicts immigrants onboard ship passing the Statue of Liberty. Above the image are the words "Remember Your First Thrill of AMERICAN LIBERTY". Below the image reads "YOUR DUTY – by United States Government Bonds 2nd Liberty Loan of 1917". The lower border reads "No9" & "SACKETT & WILLHELMS CORP. N.Y." CONDITION: colors of the poster remain brilliant. There are slight tears to the edges. Poster appears to be attached to the backing board with 2-sided tape. 2) CERTIFICATE. This large certificate is housed in a frame that measures 26 5/8" x 29 5/8". The certificate features Revolutionary War soldiers on the left side and WWI soldiers on the right. An eagle at the top is surmounted by a shield that reads "AMERICAN AMBULANCE FRANCE". The ribbon below reads "SERVICE AUX ARMES". There is a lengthy inscription to "Fenton G. ELWELL" for volunteering with the American Field Service from June 1917 to September 1917. CONDITION: certificate remains quite sharp with strong signatures. There is slight water damage at the base. The frame remains strong. (02-19485/BF). $300-600.
