1) WWI & WWII GERMAN HELMETS & FIELD GEAR. This lot consists of a 2nd Model Afrika Corps pith helmet with tan canvas covering & green leather binding & chinstrap. There is a Wehrmacht shield on the left side & national colors on the right. Red felt liner with leather sweatband. / 1 WWI German M1916/17 camouflage trench helmet. Helmet has a green, yellow, white & red camouflage pattern finish. Inside left is stamped "_N.6_". 3 Pad leather liner is a modern replacement. No chinstrap. / 1 M1935 helmet. Helmet has no decals, liner or chinstrap. / 1 WWII German map case in brown pebble finished leather. Case contains 3 8mm movie reels that have not been examined for content. Also included in the case are 10 souvenir views of Waterloo & numerous photo postcards of German sights. / 2 Tin mess kits with no contents. / 1 WWII gas mask in original canister with carrying strap. / 3 Mauser K98 cleaning kits in original tins. / 3 Reproduction German belt buckles. / 1 Reproduction WWII pilot's badge. / 1 Reproduction Navy gold bullion hat eagle. / 1 Infantry assault badge of questionable age. / 1 Wound badge of questionable age. CONDITION: pith helmet shows significant wear around the binding & on the sweatband with a broken chinstrap. The helmet remains solid & visually appealing. M1916/17 helmet shows approx. 80% original camo finish with rusted areas. Liner shows light wear. M1935 helmet is a relic shell with a completely rusted finish. All other items show light to moderate wear. Reproductions show light wear. (02-16844-2/BF).
2) WWI GERMAN TRENCH HELMET. A M1916/17 German trench helmet with a field green painted finish. Inside left of the helmet is stamped "SL62". The inside rear has a painted name that appears to read "Reibe". 3 Pad white leather liner with black leather chinstrap. Liner also has the name "Reibe". CONDITION: helmet finish is approx. 90%. Liner shows wear & dirt but remains solid. Chinstrap is complete but shows heavy wear.
3) WWI GERMAN SPIKE HELMET. An interesting example of a WWI Ersatz metal spike helmet. The body of the helmet is painted black with brass sideposts, spike & spike base. The right post has a brass chinstrap loop & a national kokard attached. 9 Tongue black leather liner. CONDITION: helmet body has approx. 90% original finish. Spike has a tiny dent at the top. Spike base is slightly pushed in. There is 1 small dent on the right side of the helmet body. 4 Tongue of the liner are missing due to rodent damage. (02-16871-2(2)/BF). $700-1,100.
