1) MARINE. A WWII to Korea era heavily embroidered silk Marine Corps flag measuring approx. 53" x 68". Red body of the flag is surrounded by gold fringe. There is an exceptionally well done, embroidered gold, silver & white “EGA” in the center. A lg. ribbon below reads, “UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS”. CONDITION: flag has some damage near the base that has been reinforced w/ red cloth. There is a tear at the top of the flag.
2) NAVAL. A 45 star flag that flew over the USS Inca during the Spanish American War. Flag marked on the hoist to the USS Inca & is further marked, “JAMES MARTIN & SON MAKERS”. The USS Inca was a 120 ton yacht that was acquired by the Navy during the Spanish American War. The Inca was outfitted w/ an 11 lb. gun & patrolled Boston Harbor prior to it being turned over to the Massachusetts Militia as a training ship. CONDITION: flag is in solid condition but a bit soiled.
3) ENGINEER. A lg. 36" x 60" Brigadier General of Engineer’s flag. Flag has a bright red field w/ a lg. white star above an engineer’s castle. Flag dates to WWII or possibly a few years before. CONDITION: flag shows light wear w/ a few scattered moth holes.
4) ARMY. A 36" x 48" Brigadier General’s flag. Flag has a bright red field w/ a lg. central white star. Flag dates to the WWII period. CONDITION: flag shows light wear overall.
5) UNDER SECRETARY OF THE NAVY. A wonderful 54" x 84" WWII flag dated 1945 for the Under Secretary of the Navy. Flag features a bright red field w/ 4 stars arranged 1 in each corner & a lg. central white anchor w/ navy blue stitching. The flag could have belonged to either Ralph A. Bard or Artemus Gates. CONDITION: flag is quite solid w/ only a few scattered sm. holes.
6) 46 STAR. A sm. 11 1/2" x 7", 46 star printed American flag. CONDITION: flag has several separations.
7) 42 STAR. A 58" x 37", 42 star printed American flag in use from 1890-1891. CONDITION: flag shows light overall wear. (02-15743/BF). $900-1,300.
