WWII GERMAN ARMY VISOR CAP FOR A MOUNTAIN TROOP
OFFICER. This cap features a dusty gray-green crown with a forest green band, all piped in bright green. The crown has an aluminum Army eagle and a metal edelweiss on the front, and the band has a silver bullion oak leaf wreath surrounding a national cockade. Silver bullion chinstrap terminated by pebble finished buttons. The visor has a black exterior and a brown interior. The sweatband is brown, and the interior lining is a combination of gold rayon and rust colored cotton. The diamond shaped sweat shield is missing. The cap is stamped size “56” along with a partially legible manufacturer’s logo. CONDITION: the cap is a bit dirty but has no notable moth damage. The exterior of the visor shows some wear from the officer tipping his hat. The sweat band shows wear & minor staining, as does the interior. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E.
