WWII GERMAN ARMY VISOR CAP FOR AN INFANTRY
OFFICER. This cap features a dull sage green crown with a forest green band, all piped in white. The crown has a plated Army eagle on the front, and the band has an oak leaf wreath surrounding a national cockade. Silver bullion chinstrap terminated by pebble finished buttons. The visor has a black exterior and a tan interior. The sweatband is light brown, and the interior lining is a tan rayon. The diamond shaped sweat shield covers a label that reads “Erstklassig Gesetz. Gesch.” CONDITION: the cap remains quite solid with minor soiling and a few moth nips concentrated at the lower edge. The sweat band is quite stained however, the interior lining shows only minor sweat stains. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (02-18241/BF). $500-700.
