DOCUMENTS BELONGING TO MAJOR ADOLF-VIKTOR VON PAPEN. This intriguing group contains a 6 award medal bar that includes a WWI 2nd Class Iron Cross with full size 1939 Spange attached, a Lippe-Detmold War Merit Cross, a 1914-1918 War Service Cross with swords, an Order of the Silesian Eagle 2nd Class, a 4 Year Army Long Service medal with eagle on ribbon & a Sudetenland medal. Awards further include a 1939 1st Class Iron Cross, an Infantry Assault badge & a WWII Black Wound badge. Copies of several documents (originals housed in the rear of the frame) are framed with the medals including an award document for a Spange to the Iron Cross 2nd Class, an award document for the Iron Cross 1st Class, an award document for a 4 Year Wehrmacht Long Service medal, an award document for the Sudentenland medal, an award document for the Infantry Assault badge, a letter from his commander congratulating von Papen on winning the 2nd Class Iron Cross, an award document for the Black Wound badge & an award document for the 1914-1918 War Service Cross. Also, the group includes a letter from von Papen’s cousin, the famous German chancellor & ambassador, Franz von Papen, along with a photograph of Franz. Finally, the group includes 3 photo post cards & 1 photo. The frame measures approx. 43 1/2" x 35" & houses all medals & badges along with copies of all documents & photos. The originals of all photos & documents are contained in a manila envelope behind the frame. CONDITION: all medals & badges show light wear with no notable damage or staining.
