WWII GERMAN HUNTING ASSOCIATION DAGGER.

Overall length: 17 3/4". Blade length: 10 1/4". A superb example of a German Hunting Association dagger with a beautifully etched blade. Etching covers most of the blade & includes running stags, a hunter, birds, boar hunting scenes & foliate embellishments. The ricasso is marked, “ORIGINAL (squirrel) EICKHORN SOLINGEN”. The silver plated hilt has a crossguard in the form of deer hooves with oak leaf embellishments. The clamshell guard depicts a grouse sitting in a tree. The ferrule & pommel are completely decorated with oak leaves & the finial is in the shape of an acorn. The stag horn grip has a brass insignia depicting the arms of the German Hunting Association. The sheath has silver plated mounts with a dark green leather covered body. CONDITION: blade shows substantial original factory polish. Hilt shows expected tarnish to the silver. Grip is undamaged. There is some plating loss to the mounts on the sheath. Leather body is quite solid. (02-16695/BF). $800-1,200.
