DESK MEDALS.
1) DAGGER. Overall length: 16 1/2". Blade is etched over 2/3 of its length w/ various nautical & foliate motifs. Ricasso is stamped, “E.u.f. HORSTER (logo) SOLINGEN”. Gilded brass hilt. Wire wrapped composite white grip. Correctly tied dagger knot. Gilded brass scabbard w/ dagger hanger. CONDITION: blade shows areas of original factory polish w/ spots of oxidation near the tip. Crossguard & pommel show areas of original gilding. Grip is undamaged & wire is complete. Knot is a bit frayed close to the knot itself. Scabbard shows traces of original gilding & has a few shallow dents. Hanger is complete but has lost most of the gilded finish off the swivels & the buckles.
2) MEDAL. An interesting WWII German desk medal award measuring 3 3/4" in diameter. The front features a German eagle w/ a grape vine & bare breasted woman reclining w/ a child near her feet. The rim reads, “REICHSPARTEITAG 1939”. The reverse reads, “N.S. KAMPFSPIELE 1939 ZWEITER PLATZ”, which roughly translates to “FIGHTING GAMES SECOND PLACE”. Medal is housed in a 5" square leatherette case. CONDITION: medal shows no wear but has a lightly oxidized finish. Case shows moderate wear w/ a detached rear spine.
