WWII GERMAN NSDAP POLITICAL BANNER FOR ORTSGRUPPE

FURSTENFELD DATED 1923. This early NSDAP banner measures approx. 31" x 24". It has an embroidered black Party symbol on a sewn white circular disk, all on a red field on both sides of the banner. One side is lettered in extremely heavy silver bullion and reads, "Nationalsozialistische Partei" on the top and "des deutschen Volkes" below. The other side is lettered in similar silver bullion, "Ortsgruppe Furstenfeld" on the top and "1923" on the bottom. The top of the banner has 9 brass rings (1 missing) for suspension. One end has 8 similar brass rings with a yellow/gold cord woven through them that extends to 2 large yellow/gold tassels. There is an old handwritten tag attached to the frame that reads, "This banner belonged to Adolf Hitler. It was hanging behind his desk at the Hauff-Brau House in Munich, Germany when the city was liberated by allies. This is one of a kind.". We cannot attest to the authenticity of this note however, the flag is unquestionably original and of superior quality. The banner is housed in a 2 sided plexiglass frame. CONDITION: the banner is substantially solid but does have numerous stains and a few separations to the Party symbol and circular white disk. The cord shows moderate wear. Bullion lettering is actually quite good with only minor losses. Frame shows moderate to heavy wear. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Jack Verret Sr. (02-16484/BF). $2,000-3,000.
