WWII GERMAN PHOTO ALBUM PRIMARILY DEALING WITH THE

1941 RUSSIAN CAMPAIGN WITH PHOTOS OF HITLER, FIELD MARSHAL VON REICHENAU, GENERAL PAULUS & MAJOR GENERAL HEIM. An outstanding & exceptionally graphic photo album containing approx. 224 photos of the 1941 German invasion of Russia. Views include, but are not limited to, captured Soviet equipment & prisoners, combat scenes, various German troops & a river crossing. The photos also include very graphic photos of Soviet casualties, burned bodies, dead horses & other photos of the horrors of war. There are photos from Hitler’s visit including impromptu photos of Hitler himself, Von Reichenau, Paulus & Heim. Photos include various views of the Soviet winter & soldiers celebrating Christmas. Given the high level of access that the photographer had, he was likely a ranking staff member of the 6th Army that was surrendered by Paulus at Stalingrad. There are also two 11 3/4" x 8 1/4" booklets titled, “Weihnacht 1941 in Russland” & “Weihnachten 1941 DIE 3. KOMPANIE F.P. 13555”. Booklets appear published by German troops during the Russian campaign. An album with many undocumented images of some of the darkest days of WWII. CONDITION: photographs remain clear & crisp. Album shows wear covers are a bit warped. PROVENANCE: Lifetime Collection of Dennis Ottaway. (02-16011/BF). $700-1,000.
