DOCUMENTS OF GENERAL RUDOLF QUERNER HIGHER SS & POLICE LEADER (HSSPF) NORDSEE, GENERAL OF POLICE & GENERAL IN THE WAFFEN SS. Uniform coat is of a fine field green wool gabardine with gold colored, pebble finished buttons. The front of the coat, as well as the cuffs & collar, are piped in bright green. There are 6 loops above the left breast pocket for a medal bar, as well as several more loops on & below the pocket for 5 to 6 badge type awards. The braided gold & silver bullion general’s shoulder straps each have 2 silver pips. The collar tabs are bordered with gold bullion piping & feature triple gold bullion oak leaves with 2 pips below. Both the shoulder straps & the collar tabs are backed in bright green wool felt. The upper left sleeve has a high quality, gold bullion general’s eagle with dark green backing sewn to the sleeve. The lining is dull gray green rayon & the sleeves are lined in white cotton with tiny polka dots. The inside left breast pocket has a tag sewn to the outside that reads, “Averbeck & Broskamp (logo) Golden Medaill 1938 Berlin. W.”. The uniform pants are a heavier & darker field gray green gabardine with green piping & two 1 1/2" green stripes down each side. The interior waistband & pockets seem to be a putty colored rayon with the backing of the fly done in a gray cotton material. The riding style britches have a zipper closure extending 11" up from the hem. The uniform comes with an extremely fine Police General’s belt & buckle featuring a silver bullion belt with oak leaf & SS design woven into the bullion throughout the belt. The face of the belt is edged with black & silver lineal decoration & the entire belt is backed in dark green velvet. The buckle is of standard police design with oak leaves & the words, “Gott mit uns” surrounding a Party symbol. The buckle has a gold finish throughout & does not bear a maker’s mark. Also included is a sm., under uniform sword belt with hanger. General Rudolf Querner was the son of a wealthy landowner. He was an officer in WWI & was awarded the 2nd Class Iron Cross as well as the Hessian General Honor medal. He joined the NSDAP in 1933. He held many positions including the Ordnungspolizei of Prague from 1939 to 1941. From May 1941 to January of 1943, he was the HSSPF Nordsee in Military District 10. From January 1943 to October 1944, he was HSSPF for District 17 around Vienna. He was promoted to SS Obergruppenfuhrer in late June of 1943 & was named General of the Waffen SS on the first day of July 1944. In October of 1944, he became HSSPF for District 11 where he remained until the end of the war. Querner was responsible for the evacuation of concentration & POW camps & his name has been tied to large orders of Zyklon-B. He was captured by US troops & committed suicide in prison on May 27, 1945. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: papers describing the life & service of General Querner. A white shirt, suspenders & a pair of black boots used solely for display purposes are included. CONDITION: the uniform & pants show light overall wear with no notable areas of moth damage. There is small separation in the rear seam possibly to facilitate display on a mannequin stand. The zipper closure on the left leg needs adjustment/repair. The belt shows light overall wear with minor scratches & light oxidation on the rear of the buckle. (02-15978-1/BF). This incredible uniform group is accompanied by 2 award documents to General Querner. The first is for the Spange for the Sudetenland medal dated “4. April 1940” & is awarded to “Generalmajor der Ordnungspolizei Rudolf Querner”. The second is for the War Service Cross 1st Class with swords dated “6.1.1942” & is awarded to “SS-Gruppenfuhrer und Generalleutnant der Polizei Rudolf Querner”.
