WWII GERMAN PRESENTATION BRONZE BUST OF ADOLF

HITLER AWARDED BY SS GENERAL PAUL HAUSSER. This well executed bust of Hitler measures approx. 4 1/2" x 3 3/4" x 6" high & sits on a black marble base measuring approx. 3 1/4" x 3 1/4" x 2 1/2" high. A brass plaque on the front reads, “MEHRSEIN ALS SCHEINEN FUR BESONDERE LEISTUNGEN IM FUHRERDIENST DER NPEA NPEA JUNKERSCHULE SCHLOSS BRAUNSCHWEIG 25.6.1936 IN DANKBARKEIT PAUL HAUSSER”. Paul Hausser was a well known Waffen SS general. Hausser was born in 1880 to a Prussian military family & graduated from the cadet academy in 1899. He served in WWI primarily with the 109th Infantry Division & was a Major by the end of the war. He joined the Reichswehr following WWI retired as a Lieutenant General in 1932. He joined the Stahlhelm in 1933 & became head of the Brandenburg-Berlin chapter. In Nov. 1934, Hausser first joined the SS. He served during the invasion of Poland & then led the Das Reich Division. He earned the Knight’s Cross in 1941, the oak leaves in 1943 & earned the swords during the Normandy invasion. He held numerous commands & ended the war on Field Marshall Kesselring’s staff. CONDITION: bronze has a wonderful patina. Base is undamaged. Brass plaque has minor paint loss in the letters & some old polish deposits. PROVENANCE: Lifetime Collection of Dennis Ottaway.
