WWII GERMAN RED CROSS OFFICIAL’S VISOR CAP.
This cap features a slate gray crown with a dark gray wool band, all piped in light gray. The crown has a black & red enameled Red Cross eagle on the front, and the band has an aluminum oak leaf wreath surrounding a national cockade. Silver bullion terminated with pebble finished buttons. The visor has a black exterior and a black underside. The sweatband is tan leather, and the interior lining is a dull orange rayon. The diamond shaped sweat shield is printed on the underside in silver and reads “(logo) Wert=Leistung”. CONDITION: cap does show some evidence of moth tracks, but no moth holes. The interior shows light overall wear with some visible sweat stains. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (02-18289/BF). $400-600.
