GORING'S 50TH BIRTHDAY. An attractive example of the famous Reichsmarschall pattern porcelain produced by Richard Ginori for Hermann Goring's 50th Birthday celebration. The service was ordered by Benito Mussolini's son-in-law, Count Ciano. It was presented to Marschall Goring when he arrived in Rome on April 16, 1939 to meet with Mussolini. The famous Italian porcelain firm of Richard Ginori has produced some of the finest art porcelain in the world and traces its roots back to 1735. The plate measures just under 7" in diameter and features a light blue field with alternating gold and blue lines encircling the border. The plate also features a 1 1/2" deep blue oval decorated with a gold German eagle, Party symbol and crossed Reichsmarschall batons. The reverse is marked, "RICHARD * * * GINORI E ". CONDITION: a superb example showing little or no wear. (02-17562/BF). $600-800.
