WWII SOUVENIRS & SOLDIER ART.

1) COCONUT. A coconut w/ 1 side painted showing a Pacific island w/ a bomber flying above. Below is written, “Souvenir from Guam 1945 from Bob”.
2) CANTEEN. A WWII Japanese canteen w/ web sling painted on the side, “KOREA 5 1” w/ flowers below.
3) CERAMIC TRAY & COASTERS. A WWII ceramic souvenir tray likely made in Holland depicting various scenes of Corporal Joseph Klepes’ WWII military career. The lg. tray depicts various MP equipment, women of Picadilly Circus, a soldier looking at a “NACH BERLIN” sign, the Eiffel Tower w/ an “Off Limits” sign & the insignia of the 509th MP Battalion w/ the motto, “Right & Loyalty”. 6 Smaller coasters depict similar scenes. Tray measures 12 1/4" x 6 1/2" & coasters measures 3 1/4" square. Back of tray is marked, “CPL. JOSEPH KLEPES HQ. + HQ. DET. 509 M.P. BN. A.P.O. 230 U.S. ARMY.”.
4) WOODEN BLOCK. A carved wooden block for the 80th Division 317th Infantry. Block reads, “80. DIV. 317 (patch) INF.” on 1 side & “PRESS CAMP (patch) BAD TOLZ”.
5) WOODEN BOWL. A turned souvenir wooden bowl that reads on the front, “Commander Cherry Bremen 1946”. The reverse reads, “In Appreciation from the American Consulate Hand-Malerei Breitenbach Bremen, Germany 1946”. Included w/ the bowl is a book titled, “Yankee R.N.” written by Commander A.H. Cherry.
6) ASHTRAY. An aluminum souvenir ashtray that reads around the outer rim, “5TH INF. REGIMENT 71ST INF. DIVISION AUGSBURG”. There is a central medallion in brass depicting a divisional crest.
7) PORTRAIT. A gold framed miniature portrait of a WWII American pilot. Painting is exceptionally well done & the frame is held in a leather & velvet box to facilitate display.
8) CARVED PORTRAIT. An exceptionally interesting & even haunting 3D portrait of an American WWII pilot. A circular frame houses a relief carved body & visor cap of an Army pilot. The face is skillfully cut from a photograph & affixed to the carving. A beautiful piece of WWII art that we have not seen before.
9) DESK LAMP. A brown & bronze desk lamp & pen holder w/ a sm. engraved brass plaque that reads, “PRESENTED TO 1ST LIEUT. J. E. CARLSON BY OFFICERS AND MEN OF CO. H 104TH INF. JAN. 23, 1941.”.
10) SUITCASE. A lg. WWII suitcase w/ various scenes painted on the outside. Scenes include the Colosseum of Rome, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, a windmIll from Holland, a unit crest that reads, “GEBT UNS ARBEIT”, a SHAEF patch, a beer mug from Germany, mountains from Switzerland, the Po river from Rome & another SHAEF patch. The initials, “K.W.S.” are on the top. CONDITION: all items show light wear. Desk lamp has not been tested. (02-15760/BF). $800-1,000.
