Original German Waffen-SS M1944 dot pattern combat tunic. Later example made from a strong herringbone twill printed on one side with the 'dot' camouflage scheme developed in 1943. Non-reversible. Made without loops for shoulder boards or sleeve eagles, tunic shows no evidence of sewing for rank insignia of cuff title. It correctly has almost no lining with gray rayon material around and under the arms, belt hook suspenders, and strips of the rayon inside the adjustable vent cuffs. Correct two holes for the belt hook suspenders, the hanging loop at the neck and inside the flaps of the four un-pleated pockets. The fall collar can be buttoned to the throat, all the buttons are intact and all marked 'F&B' (Funcke & Brünninghaus, a well-known maker based in Lüdenscheid, Germany) they retain most of the original olive green paint with wear/loss to the higher crown. The cuff buttons are bakelite and the wound dressing pocket has a small pressed steel four eye button. The tunic shows heavy use with the camo somewhat faded, it is complete with all stitching intact, there is wear, some pulls to the material on the back with a couple of small holes, there is also a small hole in the left, top pocket. Any size stamps have faded with use, the left lining rayon is ink stamped 'SS-BW', in the Nordic rune style. SS-Bekleidungswerke, (SS Clothing Works). Production facilities and tailoring workshops were located in various cities and major concentration camp complexes, including Dachau, Oranienburg, Buchenwald, and Ravensbrück. The right belt hook suspender and the rayon around them has rust stains showing the hook was used in the top hole, the left suspender is clean showing the soldier most likely only used one hook. The wound dressing pocket shows rust stains with tears 7 holes showing the dressing was carried with a safety pin to secure it, very common. A text book, original field used tunic. Consigner also has a Waffen-SS Camouflage helmet cover in the auction.
