American made slide-action shotgun chambered for 2-3/4" 12 Gauge shotshells. The Western Field Model 35 was a Montgomery Ward's department store brand manufactured by Stevens, and modeled after the Stevens Model 520. These shotguns were produced until about 1939. Known for its early "locomotive" style receiver, this shotgun features a blued finish, a 30" round barrel, brass bead front sight, smooth curved trigger, serrated bolt release on the left side of the trigger guard, single action bar, 1/2 length tube magazine, and an annular cut manual safety in the trigger guard. The hardwood furniture consists of a semi-pistol gripped shoulder stock with checkering at the wrist, checkered round slide handle, 13-1/4" length-of-pull, and a serrated black plastic butt plate. The original blued finish retained is approximately 50% with general thinning, handling wear light scratches, and edge wear. The finish is taking on a dull gray to brown patina. Metal displays light oxidative speckling on the tangs, but no deformation. Action is smooth and crisp, and the bore is smooth and shiny. The furniture wood is in good condition with the original finish stripped off, and a repair to the bottom of the shoulder stock.
Condition is NRA Good.
