this lot consists of 40 rounds of vintage western super-x . 30-40 krag silvertip centerfire rifle ammunition, presented in two original factory boxes. The . 30-40 krag cartridge, adopted by the u.S. Military in 1892 for use in the krag-jorgensen rifle, represents an important transitional period in american military arms as one of the first smokeless powder service cartridges. It later gained enduring popularity among civilian hunters for its mild recoil and effectiveness on medium to large game. included are two 20-round western super-x boxes, one loaded with 180 grain silvertip cartridges and the other with 220 grain silvertip cartridges. These controlled expanding bullet designs were marketed for reliable hunting performance and were a staple of mid-20th century american sporting ammunition. The cartridges retain their original brass cases with period headstamps, and the boxes feature classic western branding with the bear graphic and bold yellow and blue color scheme. condition is consistent with age and storage. The 180 grain cartridges show moderate tarnishing to the brass cases, while the 220 grain cartridges present with a more clean appearance. The boxes exhibit light to moderate wear including edge wear, minor creasing, and handling marks, but remain structurally sound and clearly legible. This is a solid collector lot of early commercial . 30-40 krag ammunition with desirable original packaging and mixed bullet weights.
