American made slide-action tube fed take-down shotgun chambered for 2-3/4" 12 Gauge shells, and manufactured for Montgomery Wards by Stevens. This shotgun is based on the Stevens Model 520 which utilizes Browning patents in its design. The Stevens 520 was manufactured between 1909 and 1939, and it is likely that the manufacture of the Westernfield Model 30 was during the same time frame. Shotgun features a blued finish, an approximately 30" serrated solid ribbed barrel, steel bead front sight, fixed choke measures 'Full' with a drop-in gauge, smooth curved trigger, suicide manual safety lever mounted inside trigger guard, serrated trigger guard mounted bolt release, and a single action bar. The refinished hardwood furniture consists of a semi-pistol gripped shoulder stock with checkering at the wrist, checkered slide handle, 13-3/4" length-of-pull, and a serrated black plastic butt plate. The original blued finish retained is approximately 78% with general thinning, edge wear, and a mottled gray patina starting to show through. Metal displays very minimal deformation in one of the screw slots, and a couple of small spots of rust on the slide handle and the receiver. The action is smooth and crisp, and the bore is bright and shiny. The refinished furniture wood is in fair condition with splintering at the butt of the shoulder stock, and the butt plate has been melted.
Condition is NRA Fair to Good.
