Williams Evans side by side double rifle, .375 Flanged Magnum caliber, Serial #16328. The rifle is in very good overall condition with 26” barrels with a filed quarter rib with two folding and one standing express sights. The front sight is marked, “THE TURNOVER SIGHT”. The sight flips from a standard blade to an ivory night sight. The chopper lump barrels retain nearly all of their blue finish with light handling marks. The receiver has gone to silver toned case hardening with 70%-80% coverage scroll engraving, bushed strikers, doll’s head fastener and double triggers. The finely checkered wood stock is in very good condition with beautiful figure in the butt stock, pistol grip and a beaded cheek piece. The butt stock ends with a leather covered recoil pad providing a 15 ½” LOP to the front trigger. According to the consigner, a tungsten rod was added to the butt stock, improving the balance of the rifle and giving it an overall weight of 10 ½ pounds. The bores are good and the action is tight on face. The barrel address reads, “WILLIAM EVANS 63 PALL MALL. ST. JAMES. LONDON.” This is a first rate pre-war English double in the desirable rimmed version of the venerable .375 Holland & Holland by a famous London gun maker. Est.: $9,000-$18,000. (C+R).
