Winchester 1873 .44-40 SN: 274212
'Third Model' Antique lever action repeating rifle chambered in .44-40 Winchester, manufactured circa 1888. Features a blued finish, 24 3/8" octagon barrel stamped "WINCHESTER'S REPEATING ARMS. NEW HAVEN. CT./-KING'S IMPROVEMENT PATENTED MARCH 29. 1866. OCTOBER 16. 1860-", dovetailed front sight with brass blade, flat-top adjustable rear sporting sight, full-length tube magazine, smooth trigger, knurled hammer spur, sliding dust cover, grip safety, smooth walnut forend with metal cap and straight grip shoulder stock with "C.K." carved into the left side & crescent trapdoor buttplate. Rifle retains less than 10% of it's original finish with bluing retained in protected areas with balance of the metal surfaces turned to an aged brown patina showing some scattered spots of dark rust. The action appear to be in good working order except the firing pin extension does not push the hammer far enough back to lock it into the cocked position, the bore has good luster with light rifling & pin prick pitting, markings are clear, and the wood stock are good with repairs & losses. Condition is NRA Good. ***Antique Firearm***
