Features 26" octagon barrel, full length magazine tube, buckhorn sights, straight wrist, finger lever latch, sliding dust cover, single set trigger (needs adjustment), steel crescent buttplate with sliding cover for butt trap. Bore is fair condition, frosted with light roughness and scattered tiny pits throughout,.Barrel shows mottled dark brownish and lighter dull gray colors, with dents to edges of flats, areas of pitting near muzzle & front sight. Magazine tube is a fairly consistent dark patina brown color. Action shows mottled gray colors, fairly smooth with some tiny pits, darker colors in protected areas. Lines of silver coloration from bare metal show on edges of receiver plates, corners & sharp edges, where action parts rub. Screw slots are generally good. Buttplate is good condition, matches other metal parts, some rust at screw holes, trap door does not open easily due to corrosion on brass door. Wood is good condition, solid with visible grain, some oil staining where wood touches metal, many small gouges, dents and scratches throughout. Wood to metal fit is good overall, very slight wood loss at toe. Action is smooth. Single set trigger is difficult to engage and does not appear to set correctly - needs repair of adjustment - works properly otherwise. Markings are crisp & even on top tang (model number), bottom tang (serial number), barrel (two line address & patent). "44 Cal" lifter marking is mostly eroded.
