Winchester Model 1886 Lever Action Saddle Ring Carbine, #121110, .38-56 WCF cal., 22'' round barrel with standard carbine sights, marked with maker's name and address on top and ''38-56 W.C.F.'' at breech, full mag tube beneath; receiver with loop operating lever that drops action open for cartridge chambering-top ejection, has left-side saddle ring, marked ''Model 1886'' on upper tang, two-line 1884-85 patent dates and ser. no. on lower; two-piece oil-stained walnut stocks, forend held by a single barrel band, buttstock with steel carbine buttplate. Mfg'd ca. 1900. Condition is very good, the barrel and mag tube showing overall gunmetal gray with scattered light spotting and 10% original blue, the case hardened receiver and lever having mostly silvered out. Stocks are smooth and solid with moderate handling marks, and an added coat of varnish. Action is crisp; bore is clean showing overall etching (heavier toward muzzle) and sharp rifling. The '86 Carbine is quite uncommon. Est.: $3,000-$4,000. (C&R)
