Parts correct, early production WWII era U.S. military contract semi-automatic service rifle chambered in .30 carbine. Manufactured in New Haven, CT circa 1943. This carbine was produced in Winchester's first production serial number block 1,000,000 - 1,349,999 and utilizes the type 1 detachable recoil spring tube with the catch in the receiver cut all the way through. Features a parkerized finish, 18" barrel stamped “W”, [Winchester proof], & [flaming bomb] near the gas pistol, shrouded blade front sight, flip-up "L" dual aperture rear sight stamped "S", thin barrel band, smooth push button safety, push button magazine release stamped “W”, 15 round magazine stamped "SW", smooth curved trigger, type 2 trigger housing stamped “W”, blued flat bolt stamped “W”, "W" stamped recoil shield, period green canvas sling, oiler stamped with IO"" inside a circle, two-rivet handguard with wide groove and smooth walnut pistol grip shoulder stock with high-wood forend, "I" cut oiler slot, knurled metal buttplate, "W.R.A./G.H.D." & crossed cannons cartouches. Many small parts also bear the “W” stamp including the slide, sear and hammer. Includes four additional 15 round magazine, one marked “IU” inside a circle, one marked “BW”, and two wrapped. Rifle retains approximately 85-90% of its original finish showing contact wear on the bolt & receiver, a couple light scratches and some scattered rust tones. The action is mechanically sound, the four land bore is excellent, the markings are sharp and the wood stocks are very good with blemishes & a couple minor losses.
