'Field Variation', a Japanese made over and under break-barrel box-lock shotgun chambered for 3" 12 Gauge shells, and imported by Winchester out of New Haven, CT. Made in Japan for Winchester by Olin Kodensha Co. Ltd. These shotguns were produced between 1963 and 1987, but the exact date of manufacture cannot be determined. Shotgun features a blued finish, approximately 28" vent ribbed barrels, brass bead front sight, fixed chokes measures 'Improved Modified' over 'Improved Cylinder' with a drop-in gauge, combination tang mounted sliding manual safety/barrel selector, automatic ejectors, smooth curved trigger, and checkered top lever. The high gloss walnut furniture consists of a semi-pistol gripped shoulder stock with checkering at the wrist, checkered finger grooved forend, steel grip cap with embossed scrolls, 14" length-of-pull, 1-7/16" drop at comb, 2-7/16" drop at heel, and red factory ventilated rubber recoil pad with white and black spacers. The receiver is engraved with limited coverage of floral scrolls and edge designs. The original blued finish retained is approximately 95% with some thinning along the barrels, minimal edge wear, and superficial blemishes. Metal displays no rust, or deformation. Bores are bright and shiny. The action is smooth and crisp, and the barrels fall quickly under their own weight with the top lever resting at the centerline of the tang. Furniture wood is in good to very good condition with some handling blemishes.
Condition is NRA Good to Very Good.
