Winchester Model 1873 Third Model Lever Action Rifle, #679564, .32-20 cal., 24'' octagon barrel, blue finish, straight grip walnut stock, crescent steel buttplate, dovetailed front sight with silver blade, and semi-buckhorn rear sight. Top of barrel and receiver are both Winchester proofed. Barrel with two-line ''King's Improvement'' & ''October 16, 1860'' last patent date address. Upper tang reads ''MODEL 1873 / -WINCHESTER- / TRADE MARK''. Mfg'd 1912. Rifle rates as very good overall for its age. Barrel with a combination toning blue finish and brown patina with areas of moderate pitting towards the front end of the barrel and magazine tube. Receiver with approx. 30%-35% original blue, the balance ranges from silvery gray metal to brown in color; flats with general light scratching. Lever with trace amounts of case colored highlights visible. Factory lettering is nice and clear. Wood with a tight fit at the upper and lower tang, etc. with some areas of darkening near the buttplate, wrist, and forend cap, in general showing age and wear consistent with the rest of the rifle, including scattered shallows scratches and impressions. Action is very good with a crisp lever; smooth hammer and trigger. Bore shows considerable wear to the rifling with scattered spots of surface erosion. Est.: $2,000-$3,000. (C&R)
