Winchester Model 1876 .45-60 SN: 60450
'King's Improvement' marked lever action rifle manufactured circa 1887. Features 19" octagon barrel (probably gunsmith shortened long ago), nearly full length magazine tube, dovetailed blade front sight, buckhorn rear sight, straight wrist, finger lever latch, dust cover absent, steel crescent buttplate, walnut stocks (possible replacement wood). Bore is fair condition, fairly bright with good rifling, showing light roughness and scattered tiny pits throughout. Metal surfaces show a dull silver or gray color, some traces of finish in protected corners, patina or light pitting in many places, some areas such as barrel flats show signs of cleaning. Slightly rough texture on receiver sides. Staking punch marks around front sight. Brass lifter is dented, making the caliber marking a bit hard to read. Barrel markings are good. Model marking on upper tang is deep, with many pits in the same area. Missing the rear tang screw. Forend is good condition, a bit loose, with small dents and scratches. Butt stock is good condition, showing erosion at tang (appears due to sanding). Buttplate fit is fair, mounted a bit off centerline. Condition is NRA Good *** Antique Firearm ***
