Winchester Model 1892 .32-20 SN: 120221
Antique lever action rifle chambered for 32 WCF (32-20), manufactured circa 1896. Features straight wrist stock, 24" octagon barrel, full length magazine tube, blade front sight, folding buckhorn rear sight, flat ribbed plastic buttplate. Bore is frosted and somewhat dark, with clear edges to rifling, some leading in grooves. Metal appears an even gray throughout, with darker areas of brownish finish in recess, at receiver scallops, places on barrel flats, darker speckling on receiver sides. Magazine tube has many small dents, slightly flared and gouged at muzzle end; magazine cap fit is a bit off. Muzzle shows some denting on outer edge of bottom flat. Barrel has several small tool marks on both sides at flats mid-barrel. Forend cap screws are partly backed out, and cap is mounted at a slight angle. Rear tang screw head and slot are damaged from use of a poor fitting screwdriver. Forend wood is smooth and has flat top edge with very little wood missing from right top edge, no visible cracks. Stock is in good condition with smooth wood and little loss; visible repairs at top tang, left wrist; several hairline cracks or splits up to 3" long on left butt from buttplate forward. Operation of lever is a bit stiff, appears due to dried grease and no lubricant. Internal action parts appear crisp edged and in very good condition. Barrel two line address and three line model/patent marking at tang are visible with crisp letters. "32 WCF" at chamber top is partly covered by creeping patina. Condition is NRA Good ***Antique Firearm***
