Winchester Model 1892 'SRC' .44-40 #778447
Lever action rifle manufactured circa 1915. Features 20" barrel, half length ("button") magazine, pinned blade front sight, folding ladder rear sight, saddle ring, carbine butt, smooth walnut forend & straight wrist stock. Front sight blade dented and slightly bent. Bore is fair condition, lightly pitted throughout, with good rifling. Ring or bulge in barrel just behind front sight. Metal surfaces are mostly a thin brown patina color over bare metal, smooth textured, scratched and dented where saddle ring rubs, dents to receiver sides towards front scallops. Wood is fair condition, sanded and varnished, eroded at tang and next to buttplate, many dents & dings, oil staining next to receiver. Visible crack several inches long to left side of stock parallel to bottom tang. Slight gap between butt stock and buttplate at heel. Markings are mostly sharp and readable, model marking on tang lightly eroded. Middle "E" in "WINCHESTER" on upper tang appears to have weld filler metal with some surface porosity, letter "E" deepened and extended to poorly match original lettering. Condition is NRA Good *** C&R Firearm *** [From the Jim Sigmon Collection]
