Takedown rifle manufactured circa 1902. Features 24" 1/2 round - 1/2 octagon barrel, half length magazine tube, takedown lever at magazine cap, beach combination front sight, folding rear sight (marked "MARBLE") in barrel dovetail, Lyman receiver mounted rear peep sight with quick throw lever for elevation adjustment, straight grip, steel crescent buttplate. Bore is fair condition, frosted with dark grooves, strong rifling. Barrel & magazine tube retain 20% blued finish, thinning or showing gray colored bare metal at edges of flats, round portion of barrel, places on mag tube. Rear sight displays even coverage of pitting, cleaned to bare metal. Action is mostly dull silver colored bare metal, some traces of dark gray color in protected areas, scratches to receiver, pitting on finger lever. Lyman sight is bare metal, no markings remain. Screw slots are generally good. Forend is good condition, dented & scratched, visible wood loss at left rear. Butt is good or better condition with creases and dents, fair fit to buttplate due to wood loss at toe. Markings are generally sharp and readable. Action operates smoothly. Includes letter from Cody Firearms Museum / Buffalo Bill Historical Center listing manufacturer's data for this rifle as shipped from the factory. Letter specifies "Sporting Rear Sight" which appears replaced by the current folding Marbles sight. Condition is NRA Good *** C&R Firearm ***
