Winchester model 1894 lever action rifle in 30-30 cal, serial #121524 made 1899. 36" round BBL, full mag, cresent butt with saddle boot marked A.E. Siegner- El Campo, Texas and former property of Williams A. Thomas WWI Pilot, Chief of Detectives Sacramento, P.D. who's Colt 1911 factory engraved is consigned as the prior lot. It is believed Thomas was in Texas as a pilot before or during WWI. El Campo was a "stop over" on routes to it from Houston before WWI when aviation was beginning in Texas and located near Houston. Condition - The rifle remains in very good condition with 75%-85% original blue thinning at edges and high points. Good markings and edges. Wood good with dings, scrapes, dent marks etc. Traces of case colors on lever and hammer. Lyman tang sight of the era mounted in tang. Mechanically sound and tight with good bore. Correct sights. The saddle belt is fair to good with opening to seam at front 6-7 inches and normal aging and use on horseback, straps are period. A very decent and early 1894 with I.D. to early pilot and police detective who seems to have bought his factory engraved Colt in El Paso about 5 years after this rifle was made. What his history was in Texas is not currently known by relatives but may prove interesting a bare fruit from research as he was born in Missouri. In 1894 and this may have his fathers rifle who's history is also unknown. Along with a box of ammo and reprinted photos from his family.
