Winchester Model 1894 .32 WS SN: 155463
Vintage lever action rifle manufactured circa 1899. Features 23" half round half octagon barrel (barrel appears shortened), half length magazine tube ("button magazine"), dovetailed blade front sight, buckhorn rear sight, smooth walnut forend & straight wristed buttstock, "shotgun butt" with smooth metal buttplate. Bore is good condition, frosted throughout and some light pitting, a bit dark in grooves, still fairly bright with steady strong rifling. Retains 20% finish with dark colors in protected areas, remainder fading to gray or bare metal, some thin brown color. Wood is good or better condition, with small scratches & dents, good fit to metal, some staining at wrist next to receiver, forend is slightly loose, empty sling swivel holes. Original ownership of this rifle attributed to Antonio Grijalva, a noted rancher in the Wickenburg area. Included is a copy of the book "Wickenburg Hispanic Pioneer Families" by Julia Macias Brooks, which contains information on the Grijalva family, including a vintage photo (page 122) of Antonio Grijalva, holding what appears to be this rifle (taken before the barrel was shortened). This rifle would be a good candidate for obtaining a Cody Museum "factory" letter. Condition is NRA Good+ (possibly modified) *** C&R Firearm ***
