Lever action rifle manufactured circa 1905. Features very rare 22" half round - half octagon barrel, buckhorn sights, half length "button" magazine, plain trigger, shotgun butt with smooth steel buttplate. Bore is good condition, lightly frosted with dark grooves, strong rifling. Barrel retains good coverage of grayish bluing, thinning to bare metal on edges of flats & muzzle. Action shows less finish remaining, with a silvery appearance and some darker color in protected areas. Several small areas of thin patina. Two holes for receiver sight have been welded up, difficult to spot but visible. Wood is very good condition, lightly varnished, with small scratches & dents throughout, small visible wood loss from sharp corners at tang area, including a chip out at left side. Markings are generally sharp and even depth. Includes "Factory Letter" from Cody Firearms Museum which indicates features such as barrel type & length (very few made with this length), magazine length, type of butt are as shipped from factory in 1906.
