Winchester Model 1894 Lever Action Rifle, #816141, .30 WCF cal., 26'' nickel steel octagon barrel, blue finish, straight grip walnut stock, crescent steel buttplate, dovetailed blade front sight, with semi-buckhorn rear sight. Barrel with two-line ''August 21, 1894'' patent date address and is additionally marked on the left barrel flat ''NICKEL STEEL BARREL / ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER'' - ''30 W.C.F.'' Top of barrel and receiver are Winchester proofed. Mfg'd 1917. Condition is good overall. Barrel and magazine tube with approx. 94% toning blue finish which appears original; also with scattered light surface freckling; protected areas with small spots of built-up dust and debris from prolonged storage and would improve with a thorough cleaning; barrel address is clear. Magazine tube band dovetail is a little loose. Receiver, buttplate, etc. are mostly silvery gray in appearance with some cloudy reddish brown darkening. Lever is also dark. Buttstock and forend fit nicely at the adjoining metal surfaces, but one of upper tang stock screws is missing; overall the wood shows age and wear consistent with the rest of the rifle, including scattered scratches and impressions and an older coat of added finish; some of the added finish bled onto the metal when it was applied and would improve with a good cleaning. Action is crisp with a smooth hammer and trigger. Bore rates good as very lightly frosted. Est.: $600-$800. (C&R)
