American made lever-action centerfire rifle chambered for .35 Winchester Center Fire ammunition, and manufactured circa 1911 in New Haven, CT. This was the first Winchester rifle to feature a box magazine, allowing the rifle to chamber both military and hunting cartridges. The 1895 was the last lever-action rifle designed by John Browning. It boasts a rear locking bolt, and is considered the strongest lever-action rifle that Winchester ever produced. The Winchester 1895 was the choice of the Arizona rangers as noted in all their historical articles. Rifle features a blued refinish, an approximately 24" tapered barrel, dovetailed blade front sight with a white bead, fully adjustable vernier Lyman rear peep sight, slot blank installed in rear sight dovetail, smooth curved trigger, external hammer with a checkered spur, and a 5-round fixed box magazine. The walnut furniture consists of a smooth straight gripped shoulder stock, smooth Schnabel forend with a black tip, and a smooth crescent steel butt plate. The blued refinish retained is approximately 98% with some muzzle wear. Metal displays some pitting from before the rifle was refinished, slight screw slot deformation, some damage by the top tang's screw hole, and some oxidation on the Lyman sight. The bore is bright with strong rifling, and the action is smooth and crisp. The furniture wood is in very good to excellent condition with a few handling blemishes on the left side of the forend.
Condition is NRA Very Good.
