Winchester Model 1895 Lever Action Sporting Carbine, #108651, .30 Gov't. 1906 (.30-40 Krag) CF cal., 22'' round barrel with dovetailed Stewart bead-blade front and folding-leaf rear sights, marked ''Nickel Steel Barrel/Especially for Smokeless Powder'' and the caliber at left breech; receiver with unique box magazine and loop operating lever below, has large adjustable Lyman receiver sight and is marked with maker's name, address and numerous patent dates on left side, ''Model 1895/Winchester'' and trade mark/pat. off. marks at top tang, ser. no. at lower; two-piece oil-finished walnut stocks, forend with an ebony wedge inlay at its Schnabel tip, buttstock with a sling stud (no swivel) at belly and steel crescent buttplate. Mfg'd. c. 1915, in fill-blued finish. Condition is very good. Metal surfaces retain approx. 10%-15% original blue, mainly in protected places, the balance a clean gunmetal gray with sharp edges and markings. Stocks are smooth showing normal handling/use marks with a shallow 1.25'' gouge at left bottom edge and an added coat of varnish to buttstock. Action is smooth; bore is clean showing overall frosting and defined rifling. Est.: $750-$1,000. (C&R)
