Winchester Model 1895 flat side lever action rifle, .30 U.S. cal., serial #2478. The rifle is in very good to nearly fine condition with a 28” round barrel. The barrel retains a significant amount of its muted blue finish with a loss offinish at the muzzle. The barrel features a ramp front sight with an ivory bead insert and a tangent style ladder sight at the rear. The flat sided receiver retains a majority of its blued finish mixed with brown patina. The hammer andtrigger assembly show traces of muted case color in the protected areas. The finger lever is of the early, one-piece variety. The smooth wood stocks are in very good condition with small mars and compressions consistent with use. The buttstock ends with a smooth, metal crescent butt plate. The bore is very good, the action crisp and markings are sharp on this antique Winchester. An Olin factory letter accompanies the rifle indicating its shipment from the factory onSeptember 21, 1897.
