Winchester Model 23 XTR Pigeon Grade Side-by-Side Shotgun, #PWK006078, 12 ga., 28" vent rib barrels have 3'' chambers, choked Mod/Full, with white bead front and mid-sight. Action features single selective trigger, automatic safety selective ejectors, and strong double underlug lockup. Coin-finished receiver has distinctive scroll engraving, with standing pigeon on bottom. Checkered pistol grip walnut buttstock and beavertail forend have nice figure, round knob pistol grip with wraparound checkering, and solid black rubber Pachmayr Old English recoil pad. Dimensions are 14" x 1.5" x 2.4". Includes original Winchester/Gun-Ho luggage case, hang tag, instruction manual, and other misc. factory paperwork. Made by Olin-Kodensha in Japan, for Winchester. Metal surfaces appear like new, showing only a few minor handling marks; receiver remains bright with crisp, clear engraving. There is a tiny piece of wood missing from the upper back corner on the left side of the forend. Otherwise, wood has only a few light handling marks; checkering is sharp. Cosmetically and mechanically this shotgun shows little evidence of use; action and thumb latch are a little stiff. Forend is tight when attaching to the barrel and we found that opening the action a tiny bit makes the forend snap into place more easily. Bores are mirror bright. There are a few light marks to exterior of the case; interior of the case and all the literature are excellent. Est.: $1,600-$2,200. (Modern)
