American made semi-automatic tube-fed rimfire rifle chambered for .22 Short, Long, or Long Rifle. Manufactured by the Winchester-Western Division of Olin Corporation between 1965 and 1973. The Model 290 is a deluxe version of the model 190 with higher quality components, and press checkered furniture. Both models were branded under the Sears name as the Sears Model 3T, and the J.C. Higgins Model 3T. Rifle features a blued finish, black aluminum receiver, 3/8" dovetailed receiver for optic mounting, an approximately 20" round barrel, raised dovetailed blade front sight with a silver colored bead, elevation adjustable rear sporting sight, annular cut front trigger guard mounted manual safety, full-length tube magazine under barrel, smooth curved trigger with beveled edges, jeweled bolt, and a grooved charging handle that doubles as a manual bolt stop. The hardwood furniture consists of a semi-pistol gripped shoulder stock with pressed checkering at the wrist, pressed checkered forend, and a serrated black plastic Winchester butt plate with a white spacer. The original black finish retained is approximately 98% with a couple of small scratches on the right side of the magazine tube, and some other superficial blemishes. Metal displays no rust, or deformation. The action is smooth and crisp, and the bore is bright with strong rifling. Furniture wood is excellent with superficial blemishes.
Condition is NRA Excellent.
