Desirable high quality bolt action sporting rifle chambered in .30-06 Government, manufactured circa 1927. The model 54 was Winchester's first bolt action rifle built to handle heavy high-velocity ammunition, production lasted from 1925-1936 with just over 50,000 produced. Features a blued finish, 20" tapered barrel, pinned blade front sight with brass blade, bland inserted into the rear sight dovetail, adjustable Redfield aperture receiver sight, serrated trigger, blued bolt with turned-down handle & three-position safety on the rear, internal box magazine and smooth walnut pistol grip shoulder stock with finger groove forend and serrated metal buttplate. Rifle exhibits a thinned finish with approximately 30% bluing retained. Action is sound, the bore appears very good with what apears to be very minor pitting giving it a matte luster, markings are very good and the wood stock is good with a large crack on the top of the wrist & a gouge on the left side of the stock.
