Desirable high quality bolt action sporting rifle chambered in .30 WCF, manufactured circa 1927. The model 54 was Winchester's first bolt action rifle built to handle heavy high-velocity ammunition, production lasted from 1925-1936 with just over 50,000 produced. Features a blued finish, matte receiver, 22" tapered barrel, front sight removed, folding leaf rear sight mounted in a dovetail, receiver drilled/tapped for optics, (no filler screws), serrated trigger, blued bolt with turned-down handle & two-position flag safety on the rear, jeweled bolt, internal box magazine and checkered walnut pistol grip shoulder stock with schnabel shaped tip, sling swivels, solid rubber recoil pad. Safety positions are opposite of typical Mauser type rifles, "safe" is with flag to left, "fire" with flag to right. Rifle exhibits a thinned finish with approximately 70% bluing retained with the bottom metal and triggerguard turned mostly a brown patina from handling there is some scattered very light pitting. The bolt has handling wear. Action is sound, the bore is excellent/bright, strong rifling, markings are very good and the wood stock is very good condition with small dents & scratches. Vintage Boyt leather sling attached.
