Winchester Model 55 Single Shot 22 Rifle - 1960 Self Ejecting 22.

Top feed, bottom eject. Fantastic shape. Stock is very nice. The barrel has lost some
bluing. Mechanically fine. These were really good shooting rifles back in the day.

The Winchester Model 55 was an American single-shot sporting rifle produced by
the Wincheter Repeating Arms Company from 1958 to 1961.

Advertised as a sporting rifle, the Model 55 was Winchester's first attempt at a
self-ejecting single-shot rifle.

The Model 55 is a blowback-operated self-ejecting single shot sporting rifle that
fires from an open bolt. To load the weapon, the charging handle is pulled back and
a round loaded through the top loading chute; the round has to be fully loaded by
pushing the bullet nose against the plastic ramp in the loading chute and pushing
the round in until the nose hits the extractor. Once the round hits the extractor, the
loading chute closes up; the safety engages as this occurs.
Disengaging the safety allows one to fire, at which point the bolt slams forward to
fire the round. Spent casings eject down a cutout in the bottom of the stock..
