Winchester Model 70 .22-243 Midd #45658A
This is a pre-64 Winchester Model 70 that has been rebarreled in 22-243 Middlestead. Serial number dates to 1941. 30" heavy barrel with no provisions for sights, Mauser style safety, restocked with a smooth one piece stock with semi-beavertail forearm, flared grip, thin Pachmayr butt pad, sling swivels. The stock appears to have been lengthened by adding a 2" piece of wood to it, the bolt handle has been shaved down making it thinner. These modifications appear to have been done some time ago. Barrel marked "22-243 Midd." Mounted with a vintage Redfield 6X-18X scope with fine crosshair with target circle, clear view, Redfield bases and rings. Bore is very good/bright, blue on barrel 7 receiver is about 92% with minor scratches/rubs, the bottom metal, triggerguard are in the white from handling, the action is smooth and the wood is overall very good/sound with scratches, minor dings. Comes with a old note to the owner written of stationary from Kenneth Clark, "Specializing in Custom Built Sporting Rifles" which is where he probablely had the work done. Also included are .22-243 M brass weighting 4.7 lbs, box containing .22-243 M chamber reamers, and various pieces of reloading gear.
