'The Rifleman's Rifle', an American made bolt-action rifle chambered for .270 Winchester, and manufactured circa 1952 in New Haven, CT. This is a pre-64 rifle considered to be in the latter period of pre-64's (1949-1963). Rifle features a blued finish with a matte receiver, receiver drilled and tapped for optic mounting, 24" tapered barrel, raised blade front sight (sight blade ground down), adjustable folding u-notched rear sight, turned down bolt knob, serrated curved trigger, serrated receiver mounted three position manual safety, hinged floorplate, and rear receiver mounted bolt release. The walnut furniture consists of a semi-pistol gripped shoulder stock with checkering at the wrist, checkered forend with a sling swivel, sling swivel on the bottom of the shoulder stock, and a checkered metal butt plate. The original blued finish retained is approximately 97% with superficial blemishes, minor edge wear, thinning on the bolt knob, and the receiver taking on a little patina. The barrel finish does not match the rest of the blued surfaces in color. Metal displays very slight deformation in one of the screw slots, and a couple of very light and small rust spots inside the trigger guard and on the magazine follower. The bolt knob and butt plate show some pitting. Bore is bright with strong rifling, and the action is smooth and crisp. The furniture wood is in excellent condition with only superficial handling blemishes.
Condition is NRA Good.
