SN: 100046 The Winchester Model 70 in .22 Hornet was made between 1936 until 1963 by which time 20,306 had been made, the vast majority being made after World War II. Prior to World War II only 3,500 Model 70’s in .22 Hornet were made out of a total pre-war production of 50,000 rifles. This makes a .22 Hornet Model 70 a collector’s item. This rifle was manufactured in 1947. Push feed bolt action sporting rifle chambered in .22 Hornet, manufactured in New Haven, CT. Features a blued finish, 24" tapered barrel, with hooded post/bead front sight, and u-notch, adjustable rear sporting sight, drilled/tapped for scope. There is a three-position safety, chrome bolt, serrated trigger, internal box magazine with hinged floorplate marked 'Super Grade' and checkered walnut semi-pistol grip Monte Carlo stock with black grip cap, contrasting black forearm tip, a right handed cheek piece and factory red recoil pad.. The wood stock is checkered at the wrist and forearm. Rear sling swivel, and forward sling swivel studs. The blued finish is about 98%, with slight muzzle, and handling wear on the bolt knob, stock is excellent, with some very minor scratches, action is smooth/tight. the bore is excellent/bright. Matte finished receiver is very good. NRA Condition-Excellent. C&R Firearm.
