* Winchester Pre-War Model 70 bolt action rifle, .270 WCF cal., serial #12718. The rifle is in overall very good to nearly excellent condition with a 24” blued barrel. The barrel and receiver retain nearly all of their blued finish with only slight handling marks evident. The ramp front sight remains, while the rear sight has been removed and the dovetail filled with a plug. The checkered wood stock is in overall fine condition with sharp checkering that appears to have been refreshed and small mars consistent with storage. The rifle ends with a checkered steel butt plate showing significant blue finish and includes a period leather sling. The rifle is topped with Bausch and Lomb adjustable proprietary mounts and a Balvar 8 variable power 2.5 x 8 scope. The bore is very good, the action is crisp and markings sharp. Manufactured in 1938, this Model 70 is a desirable pre-war example of a Winchester classic. Est.: $600-$1,200.
