The rear sight is a v-notch dovetailed into the barrel. There is a ding in the rear sight. grip/stock configuration & condition: the refinished furniture is two piece wood with a straight comb, straight wrist grip,12-rib forend, and a smooth metal buttplate. The buttplate has patina and surface oxidation. The furniture shows scattered pressure dings and surface scratches. The lop measures 12. 75" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are no chips or cracks. The furniture rates in very good condition. type of finish: blued, case coloredfinish originality: originalbore condition: the bore is grey and the rifling is worn. There spots of heavy pitting throughout the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 4/10. overall condition: this rifle retains about 85% of it's original finish. The metal shows faint scrub marks on the receiver, edge wear, minor scratches, and occasional freckling. The screw heads are unmarred and retain turnable slots. Several of the markings have been hand cut and are not original. Overall, this rifle rates in fair condition as an antique (see mechanics section). mechanics: the action does not function correctly. The action bar lock is worn out and can fire out of battery. We did not fire this firearm.
