this lot features a winchester spinning coachman no. 9400 fishing lure accompanied by two artificial flies mounted on portions of their original winchester packaging card. The spinner lure is constructed with a metal spinning blade attached to a swivel with a dressed hook. The accompanying flies display traditional styling with feather wings and natural fiber bodies tied to single hooks. winchester repeating arms company of new haven, connecticut produced a wide range of fishing tackle during the early twentieth century as part of its sporting goods line. Their lures, flies, and other fishing accessories were marketed alongside firearms and ammunition to outdoorsmen across the united states. The coachman pattern itself was one of the most recognizable and widely used artificial fly patterns of the era, prized for its versatility and effectiveness on trout and other freshwater species. the included packaging fragments add desirable period presentation. The pieces show wear and a few tears, but retain their original character. Together they represent an appealing example of early winchester fishing tackle and would make a fine addition to a winchester sporting goods or vintage angling collection.
