This interesting group contains a late Civil War M1851 belt plate on a post-Civil War red belt. / 2 GAR ribbons for Post No. 24, the Sumner Post of the Department of New York. / 1 GAR membership medal w/ a colonel’s epaulette at the top. / a photograph of Joseph Jacques likely from the 1880s. / 1 Brass whistle. / 5 Post war cuff staff buttons. / 2 Sm. US flags. / Also included in the lot is a post-Civil War Zouave officer’s kepi presumably belonging to Jacques. Kepi has a red wool body w/ gold bullion trim & quatrefoil. A gold bullion embroidered wreath on the front has the intials “VZ” in the wreath. Post war staff side buttons. Brown leather sweatband. Black lining. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: a copy of Private Joseph Jacques muster reports during his 3 month enlistment in Company J of the 69th NYSM. CONDITION: most items show light wear. The GAR medal has a tattered ribbon. The kepi is relatively solid & quite attractive. The lining is a bit shredded w/ losses but is at least 50% intact. Sweatband is worn but intact.
